Jeffrey Mandell
Founder & President

Jeffrey Mandell, JD, MBA, has a diversified professional career spanning more than 20 years. Throughout his career, he has led companies through periods of change and transition, including new business startups, operational turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising. As a lawyer, entrepreneur, and investment banker, Jeffrey has participated in more than $1 billion worth of transactions across a variety of industries.

Direct, Founder-Led Execution

Every Merchant Sky Capital engagement is led personally by Jeffrey, combining more than twelve years of debt advisory experience with longstanding relationships across Canada’s banking and alternative lending markets.

This founder-led approach allows our capital advisory firm to provide senior-level attention throughout each mandate. We work closely with clients to develop financing strategies that strengthen their businesses, preserve enterprise value, and support long-term financial partnerships.

Experience Across Finance, M&A, and Entrepreneurship

Before founding Merchant Sky Capital, Jeffrey spent eight years as Managing Director of Corporate Finance and M&A at Fuller Landau. There, his clients benefited from his ability to form strategic partnerships, negotiate complex transactions, and guide mandates through to successful closing.

Prior to his work in investment banking, Jeffrey spent more than a decade as an entrepreneur, launching, operating, and advising ventures across hospitality, event management, design, technology, real estate, and consumer packaged goods.

One of Jeffrey’s notable entrepreneurial achievements was envisioning, creating, and operating Lobby, a Toronto lounge and restaurant concept launched in 2003. As CEO, he secured equity financing, managed and led more than 100 employees, exceeded first-year revenue projections by 40%, and established partnerships with MGM Studios, Lionsgate Films, and DreamWorks during the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2009, he led the company to a successful exit.

A Foundation in Law and Corporate Finance

Jeffrey began his career practicing law as an Associate in Corporate Finance, Securities, and M&A with Osler after graduating from the joint MBA/Juris Doctor program at the Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School.

His experience across law, entrepreneurship, corporate finance, M&A, and debt advisory provides a practical perspective on the financial and strategic challenges facing established private businesses.
